Bohemian Flats Boathouse

Winner: AIAS Vinyl Student Competition 2009, Merit Award

Bohemians Flat Boathouse addressed the changes natural patterns of water movement along the Mississippi River by creating a vegetative buffer between the industrial landscape of Minneapolis’s spillways, bridges, and man-made infrastructure and the river.

The form of the boathouse is inspired by a local endangered mollusk, while the other elements of the site are a nature preserve to designed to attract and showcase local flora & fauna, hiking/biking trails, as well as a sculpture garden for a quiet respite to those affected by the tragic i-35 bridge collapse.
