“Deep Surface” was the studio prompt for this particular project, where we were instructed to create a scripted drawing using Processing as an initial generative method for a building skin system.

What resulted were several studies into a dense, neurological or nest-like system of primary axes of lines and secondary segments joining them, eventually ending up in an open-air pavilion, where a sense of enclosure is created from a density gradients of branching elements, much like a forest.

Inspirations for the project include: Andy Goldsworthy, Arne Quinze, neurogenesis, bowerbirds, and the Starn Brothers bamboo installations.
