LA Opens Its Heart of Compassion

LA Opens Its Heart of Compassion is perhaps the most iconic piece that sculptor Cliff Garten completed in Los Angeles to date. Located at the Vermont building on the Southeast corner of Vermont and Wilshire, LAOHC is an artistic adaptation of the lotus flower, a powerful symbol of enlightenment, vitality, and rebirth in many Asian cultures and also throughout the world.

This was one of my first projects that I worked on at Cliff Garten Studio, so my responsibilities were limited to developing the design of the fritting pattern on the glass handrail, as well as troubleshooting fabrication files for the main sculpture, pulling film permits for our photo shoot, and filming/editing a time-lapse of the construction.
